Reception Class

Welcome to the Reception class page. There are two full time members of staff within the Reception classroom: Mrs Nash (Class Teacher) Mrs Thacker (Teaching Assistant). We are a close knit team and work tirelessly to ensure children enjoy their learning experience here at Whitecotes Primary and Nursery Academy.

We have a fabulous indoor and outdoor environment. The indoor environment comprises of many interesting and exciting learning zones, for example, the investigation zone where we explore mathematical problems, technology and the world. In our outside area we have a mud kitchen where we create some ‘scrumptious recipes’, a bike track, tyres and crates to build with and a large sandpit. Every day is different in our Reception class as children utilise the environment to stimulate their creativity and take a leading role within their learning.

We have some exciting topics this year which will ignite the children’s imagination these are: Why does a squirrel hide its nuts? Will you read me a story? What happens when I fall asleep? Can I switch it on? Are we nearly there yet? Who lives in a rockpool?

Please feel free to look at our photos which demonstrate the fantastic learning that happens every day in our Reception class!

Our topic will be supported by a visit to the butterfly house as well as ending our topic with a celebratory mini beast ball!
