Expectations in Class 2

Homework
The children will have weekly homework (English and Maths), which will be sent out on a Monday and checked on a Friday   A homework project is set for the children to work on over the half term linked to the topic they are learning about in class.  At the end of the term, there is an opportunity for the children to show case their homework projects to parents.  Everyone is welcome.

PE

PE is a statutory requirement. Class 2 PE is currently every Tuesday and  Wednesday afternoon. All children are expected to have the correct school PE kit each week; navy blue shorts, navy blue jogging bottoms, white tshirt, pumps or trainers.  Children must not come to school with jewellery on i.e. necklaces, bracelets etc. and if children wear earrings, they must be able to take them out for PE. Children with long hair also need to tie their hair back for PE.

Reading at Home

Children are expected to read frequently at home. They should read independently, as well as having the opportunity to read to/with their adult. All children need to increase their reading pace and fluency. This year, we are taking part in the '100 books to read' challenge. This challenge encourages children to read a range of books and expand their love of reading.

Autumn Term 1

This term the topic is called Paws, Claws and Whiskers.  It has a science focus.

Soft fur, sharp claws and twitching whiskers... What’s your favourite animal? One that meows? One that barks? Or maybe one that scurries or slithers?

From pets at home to animals in the zoo, let’s find out what animals like to eat and where they like to sleep.

After all that work, curl up and take a nap... a cat nap!

Paws, Claws and Whiskers

We have thoroughly enjoyed our topic this term.  It started with a visit from Pets@ home and some furry friends.  We then learnt about our pets and how to look after them.  Then, we look at the patterns on animals and recreated them in different art medium.  After that, we design our own mythical animals and created them out of clay.  The topic finished off with a fantastic homework show and a visit to the zoo!.  Take a look at the photos below.

Autumn 2

Autumn 2 topic is called 'Dinosaur Planet'.  It has a history focus.

Stomp, crash, RRRAGH! Watch out everyone - the dinosaurs are on the prowl!

They’re rampaging across the dusty earth, swishing their enormous tails and baring their fearsome teeth...
Let’s explore the Dinosaur Planet!
